Super 8: Mekon FC, PJP FC Top Groups After Second Games Win
Pope John Paul FC, Okpuno and Mekon FC, Umunze on Tuesday became leaders of Group A and Group B respectively after securing wins in their matches at the ongoing ‘My Anambra Football’ Super 8 tournament going on in Anambra.
PJP defeated Konti FC of Ummunachi by 2-1 to secure three points in the game played at the Chuba Ikpeazu Mini Stadium having played a barren draw with Rangels FC on Monday to occupy the top spot of Group A with four points.

Mekon are on top of Group B with four points after a 2-1 win against GP World FA of Nnewi having played out 0-0 against SmithCity of Awka in their opening game on Monday.
In other two games decided on Tuesday, SmithCity drew 1-1 with Golden Boys of Onitsha while Ifechikwulu FC of Omor pipped Rangels FC of Umunze 1-0
Benjamin Anaduaka, lead striker for PJP dedicated the victory to his teammates and expressed hope that their last game against Ifechikwulu would be pursued with every vigour.
Roland Nnamdi of Monti FC blamed their loss on over confidence the first game win euphoria but noted that the setback will enable them come out more seriously in the make or mar match against Rangels FC.
All remaining four group matches would be determined on Wednesday at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium and the top two teams would would qualify for the semi finals and grand finale to be played at NEROS stadium Nanka on Friday and Saturday.
