SWAN Sets Up Caretaker Committee For Abia Chapter
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has constituted a three man caretaker committee for Abia chapter .
SWAN in a letter signed by Ikenna Okonkwo, Secretary General listed members of the committee to include Chijioke Okwum, chairman, Bethel Kalu as secretary and Chigozie Nwosu, member.
It said the action followed the expiration of the grace period given by the national
secretariat for the State chapter that were yet to conduct elections.
The national leadership said the committee which had the mandate to conduct an election for substantive leadership in Abia took effect from Sept. 11.
SWAN national further directed the immediate past state executive committee led by Vincent Obike hand over all property of the Association in its
possession to the Committee
“In pursuance to relevant sections of the SWAN statute, the national secretariat hereby sets up a caretaker committee to handle the affairs of Abia Chapter.
“The Caretaker Committee is expected to pilot the affairs of the
chapter for three months within which it is expected to conduct an election to elect a new executive committee for the chapter.
“As members of the caretaker committee, we expect that you
will bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of your
service to the Association and humanity, congratulations,” it said.
