SWAN South East Mourns Okolie, Rangers Int’l FC Media Director
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) South East Zone has expressed sadness over the death of Norbert Okolie, media officer of Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu.
SWAN Southeast expressed pains in a condolence message signed by Ikemefuna Asika and Kennedy Onwunali, the Vice President and Zonal Secretary respectively.
The body said it received the news of Okolie’s death with pain and sadness and extended condolences to his family, management, staff and larger family of Rangers Int’l FC.
The message which was made available on Thursday described Okolie as a consummate professional whose dedication, integrity, and passion for sports journalism distinguished him as one of the finest in the field.
The body of sports writers said Nobert’s storytelling ability, and unwavering commitment enriched football reportage in Nigeria, making him a strong pillar for Enugu Rangers and a respected figure whose influence cut across club and region .
“His remarkable service to Rangers International FC and his immense contributions to the growth of media coverage within the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) earned him admiration among colleagues, administrators, players, and fans across the country.
“SWAN Southeast stands in solidarity with Rangers International FC in this moment of deep loss and extends our heartfelt condolences to the Okolie family, his friends, colleagues and all who were touched by his humility, warmth, and exemplary professionalism.
“The passion he brought to pitchside coverage to the excellence he demonstrated in the press box and his impact remains indelible.
“As the sports community mourns, we honour the life and legacy of a dedicated media ambassador, Norbert Okolie, whose contributions will continue to inspire sports journalists for years to come,” it said.
SWAN Southeast prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and that God may grant his family the strength to bear this painful loss.
