Tension In Nteje As Suspended PG Allegedly Invades, Disrupts Ikenga Qtrs Meeting

Chief Williams Ekwunife (Onuwa), chairman of the quarters alleged that the violent youths identified themselves as agents linked to Dr Nnamdi Ilodiuba, the suspended President General of Nteje Development Union,
Ekwunife said Ikenga Nteje Quarters Progressive Union was a duly registered union with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abuja and protected by the Freedom of Association as guaranteed in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
He said that the meeting which was scheduled to deliberate on Ikenga Nteje community matters and inclusiveness in the forthcoming NDU elections was peaceful, lawful and approved by police while wondering why anybody would send thugs to cause confusion.
According to Ekwunife, given the proximity of the NDU elections, it is evident that this disruption was deliberately orchestrated to foment unrest and create a “do-or-die” political atmosphere in Nteje.
“They want to achieve this by preventing opposition voices from assembling and freely discussing community affairs.
He further alleged that Ilodiuba did not only make use of some Nteje community security operatives but also employed the Udo Ga Achi outfit in the disruption of this lawful gathering.
In a reaction, Chief Augustin Modika, the Acting President General of Nteje Development Union frowned at the continued illegalities and disruptive activities of the suspended PG.
Modika said the action was a direct interference with a peaceful assembly, undermined democratic engagement, and posed a threat to peace and order in Nteje.
He called on the chairman of Oyi LGA, Chief Emma Nweke, Commissioner for Local Government, and chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne and the Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to intervene and call the suspended PG to order .
“His actions are capable of breaching the peace currently being enjoyed in the community,” he said
