Three Policemen Face Dismissal For Searching Phone, Extortion In Anambra
Three Police Inspectors serving in Anambra have been Anambra have been arrested and detained for searching the phones of a resident and forcefully extracting money from them.
CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra ordered the detention of three Police Inspectors on Wednesday for alleged corrupt acts.
Orutugu directed the immediate commencement of internal disciplinary proceedings of the Force on the officers.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command PPRO said the CP frowned at how the suspects accosted the unsuspecting member of the public during a security patrol, forcibly searched his phone and extorted from him.
‘The Nigeria Police as a disciplined, transparent, responsible, responsive and accountable institution will not condone any form of abuse of office, corruption and unprofessional conduct.
“Such anomalies negate the professional calling of the Police and are unacceptable because they affect the entire execution of policies and directives, thereby widens the trust gap between citizens and the Force,” he said.
