Ukachukwu Reacts To Detention Of Journalists By Agunaechemba During Anambra By-elections
Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu, candidate if the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra has condemned the arrest and detention of 18 journalists who were on duty during the Aug. 16 by-election.
Ukachukwu who spoke at a Press in Awka wondered why the state government would chose to invade his Orsumenyi the country home of during the by-election.
Ukachukwu who was flanked by Chief Basil Ejidike APC State chairman said it was unfortunate that the executive rascality could be extended to journalists who were supposed to be mirrors of the society.
He alleged that the 18 journalists were harassed, beaten up and detained under gunpoint to prevent them from reporting what they saw in the exercise.
He said APC agents, canvassers and supporters assault were also hounded by the Anambra Vigilance Group who were not supposed to be in duty.

“But in all these we maintained cool composure and persevered for his people just as I call on them to be calm.
“We urge the INEC and the relevant security agencies, as well as the Presidency to be respectfully mindful of this strange brand of politics .
“It is clearly an evil that is not good for anyone now or in future,” he said
Meanwhile, the Ukachukwu Campaign Organisation has said the governorship candidate won convincingly in Orsumenyi Ward 2 and some other places.
They claimed the results in their possession were in favour of APC in spite all effort of the Anambra government to make the world believe that Ukachukwu lost in his Ward.
“In spite invasion of the polling unit and rewriting of results at Orsumenyi Ward 1 by a platoon of armed thugs and subsequent efforts to manipulate Orsumenyi Ward 2 at the Local Government collation centre, Ukpor it did not work.
“This resistance of INEC officials and party agents made it impossible for anyone from anywhere to defeat the people’s Ikukuoma in his Ward Orsumenyi Ward 2.
“This victory has become traditional, APGA can not believe it even though they came to overwhelm Orsumenyi people
who resisted them.
