UNIBEN engineers, scientists produce ventilator
A team of researchers of experts from the faculty of Engineering and Medical Sciences of the University of Benin has produced a clinically tested ventilator.
The ventilator has been presented to the management of the University led by vice chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami.
Dr Benedicta Ehanire, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, said this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
She said the invention is in response to the Vice Chancellors challenge to various experts in the university to continue to strive to make relevant marks in order to place the institution among the very best on a world class pedestal.
Prof. Kessington Obahiagbon, the leader of the team said the group of researchers known as COVID-19 Initiative considered the peculiar circumstances of the country.
“Hence the ventilator is produced to work without electricity for at least one hour .it is designed to function in a dual mould for adult and children”, it stated.
Ehanire said the Vice Chancellor lauded the team for their efforts toward enhancing homegrown capacity response to COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria
