Viral Video: Ikemba Front Disowns Paul Chukwuma Insists On Candidate From Anambra South
Ikemba Front, a major support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has condemned what it called ‘desperate move’ by Sir Paul Chukwuma and his media handlers to shore up their rating by trying to mislead the public with an old video.
Mr Ikechukwu Obiegbu
National Secretary, Ikemba Front who disclosed this in a Statement on Monday said the attention of the group had been drawn to a video making rounds in the social media by mischief makers.
Obiegbu said members of the public should discountenance the video in its entirety as it did not represent the current realities ahead of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Anambra.
Ikemba Front said other honourees at the event were Sen. Uche Ekwunife, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Sir Basil Ejidike, Sir Paul Chukwuma, among others.
It said the encomium poured on recipients was neither an endorsement nor bragging rights for anybody as it did not change the position of Ikemba Front and the people of Anambra that zoning had come to stay and should be in the State.
He said it was ‘highly’ misleading in the context it is being used as the purveyors were only latching on to it with a view to shore up their unmarketable and drowning campaign effort.
According to them, for the avoidance of doubt, the video was generated at an award giving event that was organized by members of Ikemba Front Atani Ward 1, Ogbaru LGA chapter in 2024 where notable individuals were recognised for their contributions to the party and Anambra State.
“As a matter of fact the event was organised to posthumously celebrate late Sen. Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah who until his death was our principal under the leadership of the National Coordinator of Ikemba Front, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu.
“Those whose campaign effort is at its lowest ebb but attempting a shore up by latching onto the video and mischievously misconstruing it as part of a lifeline for their dwindling fortune should know that It is dead on arrival,” it said.
Ikemba Front reiterated its position that zoning arrangement should be respected by the APC. in the April 5 primaries of the party and the Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra as it resonated with the generality of Anambra citizens.
According to the group, this is in the interest of fairness, justice and equity and we therefore call on APC to consider the above other factors, the sensitive issue of zoning by ensuring that the candidate of the party emerges from Anambra South Senatorial District.
“This remains the basic condition that will guarantee the electoral success of our party in the November Anambra State governorship election,” it said
