Vote Buying Killing Our Democracy—Ozo Jeff
Chief Jeff Nweke, candidate of Action Alliance (AA) party has said that normalisation of voting buying is killing democracy in Nigeria.
Nweke said this in a Statement on Thursday .
He called on Nigerians of good conscience must rise in unison to condemn the cankerworm or lose their future.
Nweke said commercialisation of vote was the root cause of corruption which was eating deep into the societal fabric and breeding other forms of evil bedeviling the society.
“It is unfortunate and shameful in Anambra today, that what we are witnessing is an acute decay of decency in our politics.
“It is a degeneration of sensible political strategy and we have become self- centered, narrow minded and morally deficient in the pursuit of our political goals.
“Let us consider it necessary to carry ourselves in a dignified manner and humility, knowing that we are servants of the people.
“We should all add our voices to condemning vote buying so that the Nov. 8 governorship election will not be a fatal disappointment with accompanied generational consequences,” he said.
Nweke cautioned politicians to stop attacking families of opponents like they were doing to the son of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, Ozonna but encourage aspiring youth in their chosen field of endeavour.
According to him, should avoid anything that will discourage positive endeavour of a vibrant young Igbo boy, even though his fathe
