2023: Female Rep aspirant lauds APGA, promises people focused representation
Mrs Maureen Gwacham, aspirant for Oyi/Anyamelum Federal Constituency in Anambra has commended the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for conducting a merit based screening exercise and engendering positive competition.
Gwacham who was cleared to contest for the ticket of the party in the Federal Constituency ahead of 2023 election said she was the most suited for the job and called on APGA faithful to return her at the primary.
She said Oyi/Anyamelum Federal Constituency, a hugely agrarian area had suffered poor and selfish representation for a long time and could not afford to make wrong choice in the next election and perpetuate underdevelopment.
She said evidence proved that women were the best National Assembly members Anambra had produced and promised to consolidate on the record if elected.
“I want to thank my part, APGA, for the good job done by the screening committee and also thank God for making me come out successful.
“I am confident that if the trend of transparency, credibility, fairness continues to the primary proper I will win the ticket.
“I am a woman and a mother, I have identified the leadership gap in my constituency, I am going to build on the good representation records of Anambra women like Sen. Uche Ekwunife.
“For Oyi/Anyamelum, we have not had a female representative since the fourth republic and the men have not done spectacularly well, it is time for a woman to go and speak for our people,” she said.
Gwacham said she would give a people focused representation with regular engagement with communities to ensure that Constituency projects addressed their existential needs.
