21 New Local Government Council Chairmen Sworn-in In Anambra
The new local government chairmen for the 21 councils in Anambra have been sworn-in.
The new council helmsmen were those who emerged victorious in the Aug. 29 Local Government Council election in the state.
Gove Chukwuma Soludo presided over the ceremony at the Government House Awka on Saturday congratulated the chairman and charged them to bring dividends of democracy to the people in their domains.
He reminded them they were now employees of the people having applied and passed the rest in the form purchase of nomination forms and subjecting themselves to voting, urging them to make good their promises to the people .
“Welcome to the world of reality and the clock starts ticking today, the work has already begun,” he said.
Soludo who was joined by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim and other members of his cabinet urged the inductees to take their oath of office seriously, review it daily.
He urged them to continue to be mindful of the motto of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, “be your brother’s and sister’s keeper’ and make it the foundation of their policies.
He also advised them to keep the leader that brought them strong for others as well as for themselves to climb to higher levels.
“Adhere strictly to existing processes, rules, and laws, I encourage you to be innovative and ensure you operate within legal boundaries.
“Review the handover notes from their predecessors, carefully evaluating both assets and liabilities amid the humongous challenges ahead,” he said.
The new council chairmen are Mr Kingsley Ezeagu(Aguata:), Ifeanyi Chinweze (Anambra East), Tony Obierika(Anambra West), Paulinus Okafor (Anaocha),
Thankgod Anago(Awka North), Chinedu Okafor(Awka South) and Mgbechi Igwebuike(Ayamelum:).
