35 Anambra Communities To Get Improved Power Supply…EEDC
Electricity supply would improve in some parts of Anambra, official Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has said.
Mr Emeka Ezeh, Head, Corporate Communications of EEDC said this in a Statement on Thursday.
Ezeh said this was as a result of the inauguration of the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) 2x60MVA 132/33KV Station at Awka last Tuesday.
Recall that Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President inaugurated the project.
He said the electricity demand in Anambra especially the urban areas was growing and that the project would address the surge in demand.
The EEDC said the communities that would benefit from the project included Amansea, Egbeagu, Umuokpara, Orede, Ebenebe, Ugbenu, Okpuno, Mgbakwu, Umudunu, Abagana, Orofia, Eziawutolo, Amaenye, Ukpo, Abba, Enu-Ifite.
Others were Ezinato-Ifite, Agbana-Ifite, Umuayom, Umunnoke, Umuoramma, Umuokpu, Achallaoji, Umunamoke, Agbana, Umudiaba, Amachalla, Amudo, Umuzocha, Awkuzu, Aguleri, Nteje, Achalla, Ukwulu, Nawgu and environs
According to him, EEDC management led by the Managing Director/CEO, EEDC, Mr. Praveen Chorghade was present at the commissioning, he was particularly happy because the project is not only timely, it will greatly impact our service quality within Awka, Ogidi and Ekwulobia districts positively.
“The 2 x 60MVA power transformers will de-load the existing 40MVA transformer, thereby drastically increasing the available distribution capacity by 300 per cent.
“This will enable EEDC to accommodate more load and energy to meet the increasing power demands of customers under Awka, Ogidi and Ekwulobia districts.
“This is also a major stake in increasing efforts in line with our commitment to deliver improved supply services to our customers in Awka and our entire franchise area,” he said.
He said EEDC had executed network expansion projects in Awka, geared towards improving the quality of service to its customers, which include, the construction of a 7.5MVA Injection Substation at ABS Awka.
He said it had also upgraded lines, deployed relief transformers and rearranged the supply network for better supply availability.
“EEDC called on all the customers to reciprocate by prompt payment of their energy bills, as that would help us sustain these installations and deliver quality service.
“They are also enjoined to develop an ownership attitude towards electricity installations which are an important lifeline in electricity delivery to customers,” he said.
