Chukwuma, APC Guber Aspirant Says No Big Deal Over Tinubu Appointing APGA Members
Mr Paul Chukwuma, a Chukwuma, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended the appointment of non party members by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Chukwuma, governorship aspirant in Anambra 2025 election who said this in Umueri on Saturday said the appointments were part of the inclusivity agenda of the Renewal Hope Government.
The politician said the appointment of Amb. Bianca Ojukwu and Mr Mark Okoye as a minister and Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Southeast Development Commission respectively were isolated cases.
Chukwuma said instead of criticising the appointments for partisan reasons, the president should be commended for appointing citizens of Anambra who were eminently qualified to fit into the critical positions.
He dismissed the claims that the appointments were on the recommendations of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) government in Anambra, saying that they were just two out of many made in the state at the federal level..
He said APC was in ground and formidable in Anambra while urging opposition to stop discrediting the party in the day and hobnobbing with them at night.
“The president has the prerogative to appoint and as an aspirant, I do not see anything wrong with the appointments. Why should people complain when the appointees are from Anambra and well qualified.
“I have heard stories that the APGA government made the nominations, that is not true, let them show us proof, Mr President is simply responding to the complaints that opposition should not be left out
“These are credible and competent technocrats who are also willing to become APC members,I can not criticise it because we play politics of development,” he said.
Chukwuma condemned what he described as unacceptable level of Insecurity in Anambra and canned on Gov Chukwuma Soludo to live up to his mandate of securing lives and property.
He said the economy and education system was declining because of the continued shutdown of the state on Mondays.
“Anambra is turning into a war zone, people are no longer free to move about, there is no assurance that the government is ready or has the capacity to address the insecurity we face
“Government should use the security vote to provide security to the people, security has failed here,” he said.
