El-rufai, Ihedioha in Anambra As Ex PENCOM Boss Buries Father

Alhaji Nasir El-fai, former governor of Kaduna State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha former governor of Imo State and Sen. Smart Adeyemi were among dignitaries from across Nigeria who joined the Anohu family in Okija, Anambra as they bade farewell to their outreach, Chief Mathias Anohu.
Mathias was the father of Ms Chinelo Anohu, former Director General of National Pension Commission and Mr Emeka Anohu, former House of Representatives member for Ihiala Federal Constituency.
He was a former Permanent Secretary, a former Chairman of Civil Service Commission and a pioneer pharmacist from his community, Okija.
Anohu, 85, was buried in his country home, Uhabu Village in Okija on Thursday.
In his sermon in the funeral mass at Christ the King Catholic Church Okija, Msg Hippolite Adigwe said death awaited every man and woman even though nobody prayed for it.
Adigwe who took the lesson from Luke 12: 35-40 said people prepared themselves for death at all times by taking care of themselves and the environment in which God placed them in.
He said mortals should detach themselves from worldly possession and live a life of holiness so that when they died, man and God would be kind to their memories.
“Begin to free yourself from the material things of this world, the more you attach themselves to them, the more you detach yourself from God.
“We thank God for a life well lived and the family raised by Mathias, we pray that power of Easter will take him to eternity and also pray that God will continue to guide and keep his family,” he said.
The mass was celebrated by Most Revd Martin Uzoukwu, Catholic Bishop of Minna Diocese alongside no fewer than 90 94 Catholic priests including monsignors from different dioceses across Nigeria were present at the funeral mass.
In her remark, Chinelo, the former PENCOM boss described her father as a loving family man and a disciplinarian who lived a life with of emulation.
She said her father loved education, trained them well and brought light to the community through his positive impact on the society.
