Anambra Poll: Only 31 % Of Registered Political Parties Comply With Campaign Guidelines …ANSAA

 

 

The Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) has said that only five of the 16 registered political parties representing 31.25 percent have complied with the Nov. 8 governorship election Out-Of-Home campaign guidelines by paying the N50 million permit.

 

Dr Tony Odili Ujubuoñu, the Managing Director of ANSAA who spoke at a news conference in Awka on Tuesday said the agency had reported the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Police for violation of the guidelines and molesting its staff.

 

Recall that ANSAA had on June 11, 2025 announced a levy of N50 million as approval fee for Out-of-Home advertising and campaign ahead of the election.

 

He said the complaint political parties were Young Progressives Party, African Democratic Congress, Labour Party, Action Alliance and All Progressives Grand Alliance.

 

He said the parties had since been granted a campaign permit each and unrestricted access to the Out-of-Home campaign space across the state.

 

Ujubuoñu said political parties had rights to opt for alternative campaign platforms such as Social Media, Radio or Television provided they did not breach the established regulations

 

The ANSAA boss said the guidelines were designed to ensure orderliness, fairness, and aesthetic responsibility throughout the electioneering period.

 

Ujubuoñu said APC and their supporters resorted to violence by obstructing officials of the ANSAA team on lawful assignment. to dismantle their outdoor campaign materials when they had not paid.

 

He said the incident took place in Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra on Aug. 1.

 

 

He said the APC had been issued two demand notices with a two-week compliance window, followed by a legal reminder with an additional one-week timeline but were all ignored.

 

“Despite refusing to obtain the mandatory campaign permit, they have engage in unauthorised promotional activities; erecting posters, branding vehicles, hoisting banners, organising filled with promotional items.

 

“ANSAA has formally reported the assault of our staff at Nri’ to the Nigeria Police and will continue to take all lawful steps necessary to uphold the integrity of our regulatory mandate” he said.

 

Ujubuoñu assured political parties which complied that ANSAA would do everything within the law to ensure that their cooperation with the Ag

ency was not misplaced.
