Excitement As Soludo Pays MRTF To Anambra Resident Doctors
Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) has confirmed the receipt of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) from the Anambra government.
Dr Joy Okwumuo, President of ARD-COOUTH confirmed the payment of the MRTF to members in Awka on Thursday.
Recall that the resident doctors embarked on a warning strike on Sept 11 and suspended it on Sept 13 following intervention by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo who promised to pay the MRTF and implementation of an upward review of CONMESS.
Okwumuo expressed gratitude to Soludo for making good his promise by magnanimously paying the fund and ensuring that there was stability in the health sector of the state.
She said the MRTF would enable the resident doctors to go for their examination and enhance their chances for career advancement.
“On behalf of members of the Association of Resident Doctors in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, I want to confirm that the Prof. Soludo administration has started the payment of MRTF.
“We are grateful to the governor for acceding to our demands for implementation of upward review of CONMESS and payment of MRTF, these will go a long way to improving our working conditions and helping the career growth of members.
“We are proud to say that ‘Solution is Here and it’s Solution or nothing’,” she said.
Okwumuo expressed optimism that the governor would address the rest of their demands which includes recruitment of more doctors and House Officers in the institution to close the gap created by brain drain.
He pledged that doctors would continue to work towards achieving the agenda of Soludo’s administration in the health sector.
