Anglican Church Crisis: Ex APGA Nat’l Chairman Berates ‘9-Crusaders’ Over Baseless Allegation
Chief Victor Oye, immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has flayed a group under the aegis of 9-Crusaders for dragging him into their fight with His Grace, Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop of Anglican Diocese on the Niger.
Oye dismissed the faceless group on Sunday while reacting to the allegation that Archbishop Ibezim procured the slot of deputy governor for his younger brother, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim with the sum of N350 million in 2021.
Recall that the group which is seeking to pull down the Bishop had leveled a number of yet to substantiated allegations including using proceeds of land sale to buy the seat for his brother
According to the group in their petition, in 2021, Archbishop Ibezim struck a sordid bargain: N350 million of Church funds obtained from illegal land sales, was delivered to APGA Chairman Chief Victor Oye.
“This was to secure the Deputy Governorship Candidate ticket for his own brother, Dr Onyekachi Ibezim”.
But in a reaction , Oye described the group as wicked, saying he never met Bishop Ibezim in person nor had anything with him.
Elder Statesman challenged members of the group who dropped his name in their fight to come up with proof of such.
“You know that the allegation is what it is, fake.
“You do not just drop people’s names without any evidence.
“I challenge them to show any iota of evidence because there is none,” he said.
Some people have said that the attack on Archbishop Ibezim was not just about the Church but a political vendetta against the nomination of Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim as deputy governorship candidate in 2021 and his renomination in April this year.
