Rev. Fr Igweagu, Anambra Catholic Priest Still Missing 3 Years After Kidnap
Rev’d Fr Joseph Igweagu, a Catholic Priest in the Archdiocese of Onitsha who was abducted on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 is still missing three years after his kidnap.
Edwin Okadigbo, a nephew of the priest said the family was still traumatised three years after the disappearance of Igweagu as nothing had been heard about him.
Igweagu the Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Parish, Abata, Nsugbe was kidnapped while returning to his house after celebrating a funeral vigil Mass at Umunachi on the day of his abduction.
Igweagu”s abduction was announced in a Statement signed by Rev. Fr. Prudentius Emeka Aroh Archdiocesan Chancellor,
Catholic Archdiocese Of Onitsha.
The Church called for prayers and unconditional release of Igweagu from the hands of his abductors.
He assured that The Archdiocese of Onitsha was doing everything possible to secure his freedom.
But in a post shared on his Facebook wall on Sunday, Okadigbo said and it was devastating that there had been no sight of him.
He said the family asked for the continued prayers and support of the public in their time of trial.
According to him, today marks three years since my beloved Uncle, Rev. Fr. Joseph Igweagu, was abducted.
“Unfortunately, he remains missing, and it is devastating that there’s been no sight of him.
“May we find solace in prayer and support during this challenging time,” he said..
