Ohaegbu Declares To Contest For Ekwusigo/Nnewi North/Nnewi South Federal Constituency Seat
Chief Obunike Ohaegbu, former Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission in Anambra has declared his intention to run for Ekwusigo/Nnewi North/Nnewi South Federal Constituency.
Ohaegbu made the declaration in his country home, Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area on Saturday.
He said he would contest for the seat on the platform of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC)
The philanthropist said his decision was after wide consultations with family and with deliberate decision to serve the Federal Constituency.
“My mission is to influence laws that will transform the Federal Constituency and the Southeast in general and not for token projects such as boreholes or streetlights,” he said.
Ohaegbu said the current representation had not met the expectations of the people and promised that his election would provide the right partnership to drive real development in the area.
He said he would attract development partnerships that would open up the area for industrial and commercial transformation for real development.
“As National Coordinator of the Southeast Patriots, I am already championing gas infrastructure to power industries and functional Eastern ports to boost regional trade in the region.
“I am also championing dredging of the River Niger to unlock economic potential but the completion of the Port Harcourt–Aba–Enugu–Maiduguri rail corridor
“With the right representation, however, we can transform it into a hub for massive employment and
industrial growth,” he said.

said Nnewi North LGA should support his aspiration having occupied the seat for 12 unbroken years of representation while Ekwusigo LGA which held the chairmanship position of ADC in Anambra should also concede to Nnewi South.
He declared confidence in the leadership of the ADC under David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as national chairman and Secretary respectively and Mr Peter Obi as the leader in Southeast and preferred presidential candidate of the party.
“I call on all three Local Governments in the constituency to support
me in securing the ADC ticket for a stronger and more effective representation for our people.
“I sincerely hope that the National Working Committee of our party, and indeed the entire leadership and membership of the ADC, will not take this feat for granted,” he said.
