Anambra Commissioner Rallies SWAN On Sports Development, Promotion

 

 

 

 

Patrick-Agha Mba, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in Anambra has said that sports policy of the Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration will focus do it alone,” he said.

 

Mba appreciated SWAN for the visit, saying that the leadership of the association’s had demonstrated proactiveness and passion towards sports development.

 

Earlier in his speech, Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of SWAN in Anambra commended Soludo for appointing Mba as Commissioner for the now expanded Sports and Youth Development Ministry.

 

Anaso said SWAN as body was confident that Mba had the capacity ability to reposition sports in the state while pledging the readiness and full openness of sports writers to enable him succeed in achieving his lofty goals.

 

He expressed concerns about the performance of Solution FC, which currently competes in the Nigeria National League (NNL), stating that many sports enthusiasts expected the club to have gained promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after three years.

 

Anaso urged Mba to reposition the State owned Football Club and ensure that the team resonated well with Anambra people by making them take ownership.

 

Uche Ndeke, Secretary of the body urged the Commissioner to include sports journalists in the contingent to national sporting events for effective coverage of the state team.

 

Pamela Eboh, Vice Chairman of the association called for increased government support for female athletes and greater investment in sports development across the state.
