Our medical unit functioning optimally, FC IfeanyiUbah say
The management of FC IfeanyiUbah of Nnewi on Sunday said the club operate a functional medical unit and assured that no fear should be entertained with regards to emergency response.
Chukwuma Ubah, the club’s chairman, told newsmen that the club was not doing anything remarkably different now from what was obtainable before.
This is in reaction to the March 8 death of Chineme Martins of Nasarawa United FC in Lafia, the country’s football authorities had called for adherence to medical regulations.
It had directed that a full compliment of medical facilities and personnel should be available before any match in the Nigeria Profesional Football League (NPFL) could be played.
Ubah said that FC IfeanyiUbah had maintained a quality medical unit since its inception, even though they would take another look at it now.
He said FC IfeanyiUbah had always made available a functional ambulance throughout the duration of their home matches.
“The issue of medics is very important to us. We have always maintained a responsive and effective medical unit.
“From the point of signing players to every match we run checks. We have an ambulance which is available throughout the duration of every game.
“What we have done is to ensure that every necessary equipment and requisite manpower are there, “ the club chairman said.
The Anambra State Football Association could not be reached for its assessment on the readiness of the home team.
