Uzodike Debunks Ezeokenwa’s Narrative On Obi’s Exit From APGA, Roots For NDC Candidates

Chief JoeMartin Uzodike, a former commissioner for Information and Culture in Anambra has explained how Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) parted ways with his former party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)

Uzodike made the clarification at a political rally, organised by Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, the candidate of NDC for Anambra South Senatorial District in Ihembosi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area at the weekend.

The Elder Statesman debunked the claims by Mr Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of APGA who said Obi dumped the party soon after finishing his term in office.

Ezeokenwa  who made the claims in a television interview recently also said APGA gave Obi a ticket, won election for him and helped him to recover the mandate through the Court.

But Uzodike, a Lawyer and politician who described himself as one of the founding fathers of APGA said Ezeokenwa was feeding people with lies and could not talk about APGA because he knew little about it.

He said Obi got the APGA ticket on the strength of his capacity to win and that he left the party after his predecessor, Willie Obiano told him he was no longer needed in the party.

According to him, it was myself, John Nwokolo and Arthur Eze who registered APGA, so that when it becomes difficult out there, we can fall back to it.

“Somebody was talking rubbish on the television this morning, they call him Sly, he also said APGA members produced evidence for Peter Obi’s in court, that is not true.

“That election was executed by the Church, catechist and Rev. Sisters and others were the polling unit agents, they were the people who brought the exhibit that gave him victory in court after three years.

“He said Peter Obi abandoned APGA after serving as governor, that is another lie, Peter did not leave APGA.

“It was Willie Obiano who that told Peter Obi to leave APGA before Catholic Bishops in my presence, Obiano told him to leave the party that he was no longer needed,” he said.

Uzodike called on her people of Anambra to vote for NDC and ensure victory for all its candidates at the presidential, National Assembly and State House of Assembly levels.

He urged them to vote align with whichever platform Peter Obi was contesting with is the NDC.

“I want to state it here that Peter is APGA, Labour, NDC, wherever he is, is where Anambra is,” he said.
