Anambra independent football league halts competitions
Management of Anambra Independent Football League (AIFL) has directed a total shutdown of all its activities in line with the directive of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) over the Corona Virus scare.
Coach Obinna Dike, Chairman of AIFL said this in a statement issued in Awka on Feb.19.
Dike the management of the league reached the decision after due consultation and deliberations with club owners.
He said the league would remain suspended until the global health situation normalised.
The Catholic priest called on all to complement efforts of medical experts with prayers to overcome the virus from spreading further.
“In line with the NFF directives to shut down all forms of football activities in Nigeria immediately till further notice as precautions to corona virus spread.
“The AIFL management consulted this morning and after due deliberations, decided to withhold playing our league matches till NFF gives the clearance.
“We advise our teams to also maintain proper hygiene and precautions outlined by the relevant health bodies to contain virus spread.
“We plead for prayers also to help the world battle the scourge,” he stated.
