Soludo scores Obiano high, promises to continue, complete projects
Prof. Charles Soludo, former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria says his mission to contest the Nov. 6 governorship election in Anambra was to continue continue the good works of Chief Willie Obiano which he said was one of the best in the country.
Soludo said this during his declaration and aspiration to fly the ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Nov. 6 guber election at the party office in Awka on Thursday.
The Economist said in spite paying salaries of workers regularly in the face of dwindling finances, Obiano was also building a magnificent airport, International Conference Centre and a stadium which would usher the state into better economic fortunes.
He said Anambra had experienced steady prosperity under APGA and promised that he would continue and complete all the projects if he gets the party ticket and become next governor of the state..
“I granted an interview where they asked if I still stand by what I said in 2017 that ‘if Anambra is not broken, why mend it’ an I told them that Anambra is more sound now.
“In 2010 Federal Bureau of Statistics conducted a survey and said the poverty rate in Anambra was 53 per cent and in 2020 it conducted another survey and said poverty rate had gone down to 14.7 per cent, what is can you use to measure good governance.
“Anambra is doing well under Obiano and my mission is to continue and complete all the legacy projects of governor Obiano, we are developing a blueprint called Anambra Vision 2070, we don’t ant to spent time and interprete it to people that don’t understand it,” he said.
Soludo said he had been a party man since 2013 and better the party to give him the ticket as he was ready to run for the election and achieve victory for APGA.
He said had served the global community which had earned him international recognition and now wanted to serve and develop Anambra using all his connections as an advantage.
The Economist said other political parties were afraid of his candidacy and would do everything to scuttle it while urging the party leadership to take the advantage his eventual emergence as flag bearer would accord APGA
According to him, opposition parties do not want me to be APGA candidate, they have planned to plant candidates or sponsor people to derail the party after the primary election because they know I am the man to beat in that election.
“Our collective destiny is at stake, it is a consequential election circus, we have a plan to create 1,000 millionaire youths every year, we have to transform APGA from political party to cooperative movement,” he said.
Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, representing Anambra East and Anambra West Federal Constituency thanked Soludo for accepting the call for him to run for Anambra governorship in November and promised his unalloyed support.
Obidigwe said Soludo had paid his dues as a party man and a technocrat and called on APGA to allow fly its flag as a sure way to victory.
Soludo was received by APGA leadership in Anambra led by Chief Nobert Obi, its chairman in the state.
