Anamra 2021: Uba Emerges APC Candidate As 11 Aspirants, Party Reject Result

No fewer than 11 aspirants on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) said no primary election was conducted in Anambra ahead of the Nov. 16 governorship election in Anambra.

The aspirant told journalists that neither officials of Independent National Electoral Commission nor election material went to any of the 326 electoral wards in the state.

Dr George Muoghalu who spoke on behalf of the bewildered aspirants, appealed to the party leadership to come up with a fresh date for the Anambra primary to ensure that the party beat the deadline in the Electoral Act.

Other aspirants at the briefing were Edozie Mmadu, Paul Orajiaka, Johnbosco Onunkwo, Ben Etiaba, Amobi Nwaokafor, Chidozie Nwankwo, Geoffrey Onyejegbu, Azuka Okwuosa, among others.

In the same vein, the Anambra State Working Committed of APC also urged members of the public to ignore the result purported to have come out from the primary election.

The Statement which was signed by Mr Okelo Madukaife, the Publicity Secretary of APC in Anambra the attention of the party had been drawn to the figures being bandied as result of the primary.

According to him, our attention has been drawn to a set of figures  circulating in the Internet without signature or attribution and purported to be  Anambra APC  primaries results.

“The figures do not owe to Anambra State APC Primaries which did not hold and for which we look forward to the Caretaker National Executive of our great party to choose a new date within INEC timetable.

“In the time being, the figures should be discarded and discountenanced as they are figments of fertile imagination, with potential of being fatal,” it stated.

Meanwhile, result available to the media says Sen. Andy Uba scored 230,201 votes to emerge winner of the contest and the flag bearer of APC in Nov. 6 election.

 The result which was signed by Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State indicated that Johnbosco Onunkwo was second with 28,746 votes while Chido Nwankwo  came third with  21,281 votes.

Other aspirants and their score were Azuka Okwuosa,  17,159 votes; Paul Orajiaka, 4,248 votes; Ben Etiaba, 4,244 votes; Conel Onyejegbu, 3,414 votes and Maxwell Okoye, 2,540 votes.

Others were George Moghalu,  18,596 votes; Amobi Nwokafor, 3,335 votes; Ikeobasi Mokelu, 3,727 votes; Edozie Mmadụ, 3,626 votes; Hygers Ifeanyi, 1,466 votes and Godwin Okonkwo – 5,907 votes.

Abiodun said the number of accredited voters were 348,490 and total of valid votes cast was 348,490 with no invalid votes while option A4 method was adopted.
