Ezeonwuka, APGA BoT Berate Assault On Prophet Odumeje
Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, a Board of Trustees member of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has condemned the physical assault on Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly called Odumeje during the demolition of his church in Onitsha on Thursday.
Ezeonwuka also known as the spiritual leader of Igbo nation who said this in a Statement on Friday described the act as totally disrespectful and unacceptable.
Odumeje, a flamboyant Onitsha based pastor is the General Overseer of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry located in Fegge at the heart of the commercial city.
Recall that the Anambra Government as part of its renewal programme had earmarked some structures which were built on waterways and against the urban plan.
Ezeonwuka said the assault on the Pastor by some of the security personnel deployed for the operation was as though he was a common criminal and uncalled for.
According to him, action of the government task force during the demolition of Odumeje’s Church in Onitsha yesterday was totally disrespectful which is against the spirit of ancestors and gods of the land
“The incident is unsocial, crude and “very uncalled for” and least expected from a government taskforce who were assigned to protect the interest of the government and the people.
“Why beat him in such disrespectful manners in public, if you can do that to a Pastor, what will you do to a criminal?
“At best, they should have arrested and taken him to the nearest Police station for questioning instead of manhandling him in public in such crude manners.
“Odumeje has his own way of solving people’s problems and entertaining people to feel happy and that is why people are following him,” he said.
Ezeonwuka however commended Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for mustering the political will to do what was needed to change the environmental and social face of Onitsha.
Hr said he was not worried about the demolition which was necessary to get the desired result but urged the governor to ensure that those implementing the policy did so with civility and respect for the masses.
