Technical College, Vision High School Are Champions Of Secondary Schools Football Tourney In Anambra
Nigeria Science and Technical College, Nnewi has emerged winners of the second edition of All Secondary Schools Football Championship in Anambra.
Science and Technical College beat their co-finalists Okongwu Memorial Secondary school by four unreplied goals to win the male category of the event in a game decided at the Anglican Girls Secondary school football pitch in Nnewi.
All Secondary Schools Football Championship is a competition organised for schools in Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo LGAs and neighbouring communities.
In the third place match, Government Technical College Ichi in Ekwusigo local government defeated Christ the Way Secondary by 2-0 to finish third place in the thrilling encounter.
In the female category, Vision High school beat hard fighting Anglican Girls Secondary school Nnewi 1-0 zero to emerge the champions while defending champions, Christ the Way Secondary School defeated Nnewichi Community Secondary 3-2 to secure the third position.
The Most Valuable Player of the championship went to Kenechukwu Nwafor and Chinaza Igwemadu for male and female versions respectively.
Speaking after the competition, Okwudili Nuel, the Coordinator and Consultant to the organisers said the tournament was a success while appreciating his team led by Chidiebere Obichendu for their efforts.
Nuel thanked schools and students who took part in the tournament while noting that one of the major aim of this championship which was reawakening the school sports consciousness in Anambra was being achieved.
According to him, many schools have shown great interest to feature in future engagements, talents have been spotted and plans are ongoing to place them in good football Academies where they will be nurtured,
“We are open for corporate sponsorships and partnerships,” he said.
