Tansian Varsity: I have Recovered My Property—– Ezeonwuka
Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, Managing Director Ranent Industries, owners of the properties where Tansian University, Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra is sited says he has taken over his property.
The Oba campus of Tansian University was the takeoff campus of the institution following a mutual agreement between the business and the founder Very Rev. Fr Johnbosco Akam.
Ezeonwuka who is also the proprietor of Rojenny Stadium and Games Village who spoke to newsmen in Awka that he had enforced the order of an Ogidi High Court for him to take over the institution, sell the properties and recover his debt.
The order was issued by the The court presided over by Justice Arinze Akabua in suit no HD/89/2008/1071M/2018 between Rabet Industries and Chief Romanus Ezeonwuka against Tansian University and Very Rev. Dr JohnBosco Akam in February 2019.
The court granted the plaintiffsf leave to sell the movable and immovable assets to recover his debt following the university’s refusal to honour their agreement.
It said the University owed Ezeonwuka an acceded sum of N18 million as at 2018.
A consent settlement agreement entered at an Ogidi High Court had said the university would occupy the property for a period of 25 years between 2010 and 2035 at an annual honorarium of N10 million.
It was upon this order that the management of the Ranent Industries Company Ltd stormed the University, sacked and sealed the premises
“Leave is granted to Judgment Creditors/Applicants to levy execution on the movable and immovable properties of the Judgment Debtors/Respondents for purposes of recovering the outstanding indebtedness of the Judgment Debtors which now stands at N18,000,000.00 (Eighteen Million Naira) as at April, 2018.
“Furthermore, Order is made that Judgment Debtors/Respondents vacate with immediate effect the temporary site of the 1st Respondent located at Umuogali village Oba which premises is the property Creditors/Applicants. of Judgment,” he said.
Ezeonwuka while speaking to journalists said he could no longer condone the actions of some people who claimed to be acting on behalf of the institution after the death of Prof. Akam.
Ezeonwuka said the priests did not only deceive the founder of the University into disobeying the consent settlement agreement which resulted in the debt but went ahead to engage in falsification and forgery over the ownership status of the institution.
“I have taken over my property in line with the order of the Court.
“I set up that university with Very Rev. Fr. John Bosco Akam, though we had a fallout but, we later resolved amicably, that gave rise to the consent settlement.
“But the priest is dead, the impostors that came in after him began to engage in falsification and forgeries in the attempt to appropriate the property to themselves,” he said.
He said having recovered his property, all arrangement has been concluded for his Chinese partners to arrive Nigeria before the end of first quarter of the year to revive the Ranent Industries Company Ltd and offer employment to well over 5000 Anambrarians.
