Ezeonwuka Lauds Anambra Gov’t Burial Law, Ban On Depositing Of Dead Bodies In Morgues
Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, Founder of Ogilisi Igbo Foundation, an Igbo Socio Cultural organisation has applauded the Anambra which banned display of coffins publicly and depositing of dead bodies in morgues for more than two months.
Ezeonwuka said the burial was a good omen which positive spiritual implications.
The burial law also mandated that all mortuary attendants were to report to the Ministry of Health any corpse which has stayed in their mortuary for more than one month from the date it was deposited.
It also provides that anyone found guilty of public display of caskets for fabrication and sale will pay a fine of N50,000, and could be liable to one month imprisonment or both.
“The violation of the provisions of the law attracts a fine of N100,000, six months imprisonment or both,” it said.
Ezeonwuka who had been in the vanguard for evacuation and burial of corpses from all mortuaries in the state and as well as immediate burial of the dead said the law aligned with his call for several years
“This single act of banishing the display of caskets on the streets and dumping of corpses in mortuaries will change social life and control the zombies that possessed the youths,” he said.
Ezeonwuka commended the Anambra State House of Assembly and Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for coming with these while calling for strict compliance and enforcement.
The Spiritual Leader of Igbo Nation said most people roaming the streets were dead people who come from mortuaries.
“This is a good omen, it is spiritually and psychologically wrong to display coffins openly in public, the act is highly reprehensible, so I commend the Anambra government for the law.
“Soludo has tackled what I know and have been campaigning long ago; this unholy practices contributed immensely to the mess going on in Igbo land.
“Over time corpses and unburied dead bodies have been the major causes of zombies that have destroyed the norms and behavior of our people.
“Enie OZU enie ONUMA, now all unsettled wandering spirits will go to the spiritual world and people will have a blissful life once more,” he said.
He called on the people of the state and mortuary operators in Anambra to cooperate with the law for liberation of the state from insecurity and social vices.
