Odumeje Seeks Full Sponsorship For Qualified Indigent Pilgrims

Pastor Chukwuemeka Ohanaeme, the General Overseer of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Onitsha has called on the Anambra government to give full pilgrimage sponsorship to qualified Citizens.
Odumeje as he is fondly called made the appeal when members of the Anambra Pilgrims Office paid him an advocacy visit in his Church on Thursday.
He said such gestures would encourage people to contribute more positively to the society and endeavour to become better citizens because they would like to. reward the society for taking care of them.
He commended Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for his transformational policies in the State, reviving the Pilgrims Office and expressed confidence that he would consider the plea he made on behalf of the masses adding that it was part of evangelism.
According to him, free pilgrimage is the type of thing a government should give to their citizens, this is what. triggers positive motivation among people, they should have reason to celebrate their government.
“As a Ministry, we do it for people, we sponsor people we do not know for free to overseas make money, we give free spiritual healings to people for different conditions without collecting money, it is possible,” he said.
Earlier in his address, Mr Odira Ezeh, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Soludo on Pilgrim Affairs, said the visit was aimed at fostering a stronger partnership with the Christian community in advancing the spiritual objectives of the present administration.
Ezeh commended Odumeje for his spiritual leadership and the important role you played in ministering to the spiritual needs of his congregation. .
He said the Church was a vital partner in promoting moral values, spiritual growth, responsible citizenship and the overall well-being of the people of Anambra.
He said the Pilgrims Office, under Soludo’s administration, was committed to initiatives that would promote the spiritual, moral, social and economic development of our people.
He described Christian pilgrimage as one of the avenues through which individuals can experience spirituality renewal, strengthen their faith, learn from other cultures and return home with a renewed commitment to their families, communities and the State.
Ezeh said Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the Deputy Governor, was promoting initiatives aimed at expanding the opportunities associated with pilgrimage.
“These include the proposed Pilgrimage Exchange Programme, which seeks to promote religious tourism, attract visitors to Anambra, create employment opportunities and improve the State’s internally generated revenue.
“The proposed Pilgrimage Lottery Programme is another initiative intended to broaden access to pilgrimage opportunities and encourage fairness, transparency and credibility in the selection of beneficiaries,” he said.
Ezeh informed Odumeje about the forthcoming Anambra Christian Pilgrims Summit which would serve as. a platform to educate Anambra people on pilgrimage matters and the benefits of Christian pilgrimage.
He said it would also deepen public understanding of Christian pilgrimage, encourage participation and build a stronger partnership between government and religious institutions towards advancing the spiritual and developmental interests of the people.
