Anambra Traffic Agency Boss Reads Riot Act To Touts Menacing Parts Of Onitsha
Engr Emeka Okonkwo, Managing Director of Anambra Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has warned yours and illegal agents to steer clear of roads across the state especially the commercial city of Onitsha.
Okonkwo have the warning during an engagement with major transport Stakeholders in Onitsha on Thursday..
He said the complaints of touts who disguised as ARTMA operatives to harass motorists were no longer condonable
According to him, we will continuously engage major stakeholders in the transport sector until we achieve the required sanity on our roads.
“We were appointed to serve Anambra public and we will do to the best of our ability to achieve Mr Governor,Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of building a prosperous and liveable homeland,” he said.
. Okonkwo charged the stakeholders to resist anybody who was not kitted in official ATMA uniform and treat him as an illegal agent.
He said Gov. Chukwuma Soludo had set a special anti tout squad to curb the menace of tout while urging transporters to take advantage of the window when the need arose.
“Today, we listened to the complaints from the keke riders along Obodo Ukwu where some persons who put on white shirts and black trousers impound tricycles and claim to be working for ARTMA.
“This report was immediately forwarded to the anti tout team and they are in a serious hunt for them.
Anyone not dressed in the proper ARTMA uniform should be regarded as a tout and dealt with appropriately,” he said
ARTMA has been in the forefront of streamlining traffic environment in Anambra and has to a large extent brought sanity to Awka the capital town as well as Upper Iweka bridgehead area in Onitsha.
