Purported Isaiah Benjamin, Joke Taken Too Far… SWAN Anambra
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter has described the purported impeachment of Isaiah Benjamin, national president of the association by some members of the National Executive Committee as a joke taken too far.
The said in a communique issued at the end of February Congress of the chapter in Awka.
The Communique which was signed by Chimezie Anaso and Uche Ndeke, Chairman and Assistant Secretary respectively on Sunday called on those behind the move to think twice a rethink and retrace their steps.
SWAN Anambra maintained its stand that there was no crisis in the national leadership of the body and that Isaiah Benjamin remained the duly elected and authentic president of the association following his emergence at Omoku, River State in July 2033.
“The Congress frowned at stage-managed crisis in the National Executive Committee of SWAN and condemned the activities of those lending themselves as willing tools to destabilise the association
“The purported impeachment of Benjamin by some members of NEC was ludicrous and a joke taken too far.
“We call on those spearheading this destructive agenda to have a rethink and retrace their steps or be ready to face the consequences of their ill advised and ill intentioned actions,” it said.
Anambra SWAN called in the Isaiah Benjamin led executive to intensify preparation for a Full Council as soon as possible saying had it had become expedient.
The chapter said the Full Council would address the nagging issues conclusively and sustainably.
It commended members in Anambra fit their active participation in the association and urged to continue to give their best as sports journalists.
“The congress commended the Anambra sports sector for the success of 2024 and charged the Sports Commission to begin to implement his programme for the year,” it said
