Anambra: Ozigbo Scores Soludo Low, Set To Contest In 2025
Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Labour Party has declared his intention to contest the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.
Ozigbo who spoke to journalists in Awka on Sunday said he was not impressed with the performance of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo in the past two years
He said he had observed Soludo in the first two years without making comments but had decided to provide opposition by speaking to some of his policies and programmes with the aim of showing the people of the state that they deserved more.
The technocratic said he was still committed to serving Anambra assuring that the people would be more proud of the state at the helm of affairs.
Ozigbo who was candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2021 election said he was interested in the coming election on the platform of the Labour Party.
He described Anambra as a great state which required courteousness, humility, and involvement of the people in the governance process for anybody to serve her well.
“You must be humble and relate with people in order to understand the people and make them to be part of what you are doing for them.
“I am not impressed with Soludo’s two years in office, I can do better in emotional intelligence because, for you to do well, you must know us
“After the 2021 election, I resolved to be quiet in the first two years but going forward, I want to start holding Soludo responsible for his actions,” he said.
Ozigbo said he was an advocate of zoning arrangement in Anambra and would only serve for a single term of four years if elected.
He blamed his loss in the last election on betrayal from party members and members of his campaign team who were transactional in the election.
He said he had learnt his lessons and would be more careful and battle ready as the election approaches.
According to him, four years is enough for me to make the most impact and move on, so, I respect zoning but it must be mixed with merit to make sense
“I will serve a single tenure of four years and as a man of integrity, I will honour the zoning arrangement,” he said.
