Ozigbo Congratulates, Rallies Support For Usman Led Nat’l Caretaker Committee
Mr Valentine Ozigbo, a chieftain of the Labour Party has congratulated the newly constituted 29-member National Care Caretaker Committee led by Benadi Usman,and Darlington Nwaokocha as Chairman and Secretary, respectively.
Ozigbo who welcomed the caretaker committee as a a golden opportunity to reposition the party into a much more vibrant popular movement on Wednesday urged all stakeholders and members of the party to cooporate with the team and enable deliver on their mandate.
Recall that the at the National Executive Committee (NEC)/Extended Stakeholders meeting met in Umuahia, the Abia State Capital and elected the Caretaker Committee to takeover from the Julius Abure led National Executive Committee whose tenure elapsed few months ago.
The National Caretaker Committee were mandated to immediately ensure that the Ward, Local Government, State, and National Congresses and conventions of the Labour Party were held as soon as possible in accordance with the constitution of the Labour Party.
Ozigbo said the new interim leadership offered new hope and beginnings for the party while commending their leaders including Mr Peter Obi, its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections and Gov. Alex Otti of Abia State, for the bold step.
“I believe that this is a golden opportunity to reposition the party into a much more vibrant popular movement that would attract new membership, enthrone a strong and disciplined party leadership that will lead in galvanising Nigerians from the Ward, Local Government, State and national levels.
“I urge all members to cooperate with the Caretaker Committee and the other members representing various interests, including the NLC, TUC, Senate, House of Representatives, House of Assembly and gubernatorial candidates in the last election to ensure the success of the new direction and assignment.
“The Labour Party emerging from this should serve as the rallying point for restoring long-suffering Nigerians’ vanishing hope and confidence and be the answer to their yearning for the enthronement of democratic and good governance ideals at all levels.
