Anambra Gov’t Improving Service Delivery Through Digital Governance Infrastructure —- ICT Agency Boss
Mr Chukwuemeka Agbata, Managing Director of Anambra Information Communication Technology (ICT) Agency says the government is building standardised government websites across the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Agbata who disclosed this at an interaction with journalists in Awka recently said the ‘Digital Front Door to Government’ would enhance service delivery in the public sector.
He said the standardised government websites were essential to digital governance and the Anambra government was driving the initiative across MDAs.
He said the website would be the first point of contact between the people and public institutions, thereby serving as a digital equivalent of walking into a government office.
“A functional official website enables citizens to understand what an institution does, access public information, obtain services, locate contact details and engage government more efficiently without necessarily visiting an office.
“When government websites are outdated, inconsistent or unavailable, public trust is weakened and access to government information becomes more difficult,” he said.
Agbata said standardising government websites was not simply a technology project but a digital governance initiative aimed at ensuring that MDAs maintained a secure, accessible and consistent online presence.
He said they would help to improve public access to government information and services, promote transparency and institutional accountability, ensure consistency and strengthen cybersecurity.
Agbata said Anambra ICT Agency was providing a common framework to ensure that government websites were developed in line with approved standards rather than through fragmented or inconsistent approaches.
“This initiative supports Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere”* by laying the digital foundations for a more connected, efficient and citizen-centred government,” he said.
