Soludo Delivering His Promises In Sports Sector, Commissioner Tells SWAN
Dr Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information in Anambra says Gov. Chukwuma Soludo had delivered almost all his campaign promises in the sports sector.
Mefor said this when he received members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in his office on Tuesday.
He said the impact of his policies in sports were already being felt with the success of the state at national competitions.
He said some of the promises were the revival of the school sports system, founding of a state owned football club and using sports as a means of empowerment as well as addressing criminality.
“Prof. Soludo is fully committed to give sports primacy of place, he is already delivering on most his promise in sports
“He has returned School Games, at just concluded National Youth Games, our athletes dominated track and field with five gold, so the return of school sports is yielding results.
“We have not been doing well well because we do not start early by catching them young
“More facilities will be put in place with emphasis in sports where we have comparative advantage will encourage more people to burn the tracks at the early stage,” he said.
Mefor said sports writers were critical to the development of the sports sector and that SWAN would be accorded due attention.
He commended SWAN in the state for their responsible reportage of sports activities while promising that the Soludo administration would support their operations where and when necessary.
On his part, Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of body in Anambra congratulated Mefor on his appointment as Commissioner for Information in Anambra and expressed the readiness of SWAN to work with his office
Anaso congratulated Soludo and team Anambra for a successful outing at the just concluded NYG at Asaba where the state won nine gold, nine silver and eight bronze.
“That we are committed to promoting the administration of Prof Chukwuma Soludo through positive reportage of his modest strides in the Sector.
“That as watchdogs, we shall continue to provide constructive criticism where necessary for the benefit of the teeming talented youths of Anambra.
“We will like to tell you that we are still waiting for the opportunity to honour Mr Governor as Grandpatron like the statute of SWAN confers on governors in every state.
