Bloodbath as Gunmen Kill Four In Anambra Over Sit-At-Home
Tragedy struck in Anambra on Monday as yet-to-be-identified persons carried out simultaneous attacks on Anambra communities to enforce sit at home order.
The attacks which took place in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area and Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area targeted local vigilance operatives.
Four persons including the President-General of a community, vigilance operatives and motorcyclist were allegedly killed in the incidents.
Many other unlucky persons sustained injuries whole properties including sever vehicles were burnt down.
Meanwhile, the Police Command in Anambra has confirmed the death of four persons in the incident.
SP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra described the attacks as unprovoked.
“Also at Ukpo junction, Dunukofia LGA while escaping a hot chase by the Police Responding Team, shot and killed another member of the vigilante, injured another and set two vehicles ablaze.
“Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased has been recovered and the injured are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
“The CP condoles with the family, friends and Communites of the deceased ensuring that the Police shall leave no stone unturned until those behind the barbaric act are arrested and justice served,” he said.
