Aiza Nwosu, Awka Celebrity TownCrier Shot Dead, Police Launch Manhunt

 

 

Mr Isaac Nwosu, a popular town crier in Awka, the capital city of Anambra has been shot dead.

 

Nwosu, known for his use of modern gadgets for communicating events and creating awareness in Awka was shot dead by yet to be identified assailants in the evening of Sunday, Aug. 30.

 

He was shot in the head and left to bleed to death in his car while music was still blasting from his loud speakers atop his vehicle.

 

The dastardly incident has thrown the community into panic with tongues wagging as to what the killing of the veteran would benefit the assailants.

 

Meanwhile, the Police Command in Anambra has confirmed the shooting and killing of Nwosu in a Statement issued by SP Toochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state.

 

Ikenga said the CP Nnanna-Oji Ama, the Commissioner of Police in the state held a 2-hour closed-door strategic meeting with the Command’s strategic and operational officers following the incident.

 

He said the meeting was part of the effort to reassess information from the public especially within Awka with a view to strengthening security operations and sustaining the fight against violent crime.

 

 

He said the CP had paid a condolence visit to the family of slain Isaac Nwosu who he described as an asset to the State and whose service would greatly be missed by all including Police Command for his contributions to security through advocacy.

 

“The CP further directed the relevant operational and investigative units to intensify efforts towards identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.

 

“He has assured the family and residents of Anambra that the Command would pursue the matter with determination and calls on residents to keep believing in the integrity of the force and investigative proceedings on the unfortunat

e incident,” he said.
