Anambra Central: Experience, Capacity Position Ekwunife As Beautiful Bride
The race for Anambra Central Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly is heating up with three candidates as front line contenders in the contest.
The three top candidates are heavyweights in not just Anambra Central but the entire state, each having rich political pedigree and running on strong political parties.
The top contenders in the race are Dr Uche Ekwunife of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the incumbent, Chief Victor Umeh of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ekwunife is a political brand that combines experience, capacity and grassroots reach which makes her the top choice for the job.
She is not campaigning on gender appeal, being the only woman in the trio nor on the basis of running on a strong party like APC which controls the federal government, over 31 states and 70 percent of the National Assembly.
Ekwunife is running on the strength of her past performance as a member of the Federal House of Representative and Senate as well as how she used these positions to impact on the lives of constituents through projects and manpower empowerment.
Ekwunife has used her political positions and exposure to touch lives.
This is why she remains a formidable and active force at the community, state and national levels.
The upper legislative chamber is a gathering of people with wisdom, boldness and good understanding of the development challenges of their senatorial districts as well as the lobbying capacity to attract them.
Equipped with experience of two terms in both the House of Representatives and the Senate with having where she served as Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee, the Amazon towers higher as a better candidate to deliver effective Senate-level legislation, budgeting and oversight.
She has sponsored bills that had direct or potentially local relevance.
Her political experience extends beyond one legislative position, she also enjoys the advantage of substantial party and political activity including the Coordinator of APC campaign council in the Southeast.
Ekwunife’s presence in the Senate promises greater energy and persuasive ability over the incumbent, Umeh of NDC and superior experience over Nwankwo of APGA who would be coming in as first timer in the Senate where rank matters.
Iyom’s legislative dividends in course her journey to the National Assembly include the construction of over 40 community roads across the seven local government areas with about 22 of them completed and facilitation of over 600 federal jobs for constituents.
She has also empowered thousands of youths and women through leadership training, capacity building, skill acquisition and federal government’s special public works programme,
The economically disadvantaged, widows and the elderly have also benefitted from Ekwunife’s generosity through free houses, business set up and monthly stipends.
These sterling qualities and more are the reasons Ekwunife should be the candidate of particular interest to Anambra Central district and supported as the beautiful bride.
Her emergence at the poll will give the people of the senatorial district the double advantage of a pedigree and go-getter.
