Anambra earmarks N43,64bn for seven projects
The Anambra government has approved the sum of N43,635,992,400.48 for seven new projects with the the construction and dualisation of Ekwulobia-Ufuma expected to gulp N37,95 billion.
Dr Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information in Anambra said on Tuesday that the decisions were reached at the 19th State Executive Council meeting.
Mefor said the onstruction of Adili/Park road with a spur to the building materials market, Nnewi was also awarded at sum of N1.40 billion while School Road with interlocking pavement stones at Iyiowa Odekpe would gulp N2.23 billion.
He said the projects were expected to boost the state’s infrastructure, improve the quality of life for citizens and attract investments to the state.
He said other projects awarded were the external works of the VIP Lounge of the Chinua Achebe Umueri sum of N172 million and supply, installation of the furniture for the VIP lounge of the airport for N157 million while N147 million would be spent on the Rehabilitation of the premises Anambra Civil Service Commission.
“Marking of stop lines, pedestrian crosswalks and yellow box traps on all traffic light junctions in the sum of N125 million.
“Council also approved the award of the contracts in the sum of N927 million for the construction of the playground, volleyball & tennis courts at the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex, Aguata.
“Supply and installation of medical equipment at the General Hospital, Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, at the cost of N346.6 and the construction of two suspended floor six classroom blocks at Awada Secondary School, Obosi, at the contract sum of N174. 4 million,” he said.
Mefor said no new project would be initiated for the sake of the election season while reiterating that contractors in the state wo
uld not be owed.
