Anambra Gov’t to Investigate Death Of Woman Allegedly Murdered By Husband

The Deceased

The Anambra State Government has said it will investigate the death of one late Mrs Ogochukwu, a mother of four who was allegedly killed by husband, Mr Wilson Uwaechina during a quarrel over a loaf of bread.

Mrs Ify Obinabo, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare in Anambra said this during a meeting with Mrs Cordelia Anene, mother of the deceased in Awka on Tuesday.

Wilson was said to have attacked and killed his wife when she asked questions as to why he would finish a loaf of bread she bought for their children without keeping any.

She waa said to have been rushed to Niger Foundation Enugu where she was discovered to be having internal bleeding and referred them to Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku Ozalla where she died.

According to Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, media aide to Obinabo, her ministry would investigate the matter to unravel the true cause of the death.

Obinabo said since the deceased was from Anambra state, the state government would not keep quiet over the unfortunate incident but will make sure that investigation leading to the cause of death of the deceased was  done in record time.

“Anambra state will synergise with the Enugu State government in investigating the case in order to get justice for the deceased.

“Women in abusive marriages should speak out and seek help instead of staying because of what the society will say,” she said.
