Anambra Guber: APGA Clears Soludo, Disqualifies Five Others

The  All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has disqualified five aspirants from contesting for the party’s ticket slated for June 22 ahead of the governorship election in Anambra.

The result of the screening committee signed by Mr Ifeanyi Mbaeri, APGA’s National Organising Secretary cleared four aspirants including Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, formed governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

The aspirants had paid sum of N22 million each for Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

The screening was held on June 10 at APGA National Secretariat, Abuja.

Other aspirants cleared were Mr Chibuzo Okolo, ThankGod Ibeh and Okwudili Ezenwankwo, member representing Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

The disqualified aspirants were Mr Ifeanyi Ozoka, Nonso Okafor, Nnamdi Umeh (representing Nnewi North and Aguata 1 in Anambra House of Assembly respectively)..

Others were  Chief Akachukwu Nwankpo a former presidential aide and Chief Chukwuma Umeoji, member representing Aguata Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

 They were  disqualified on grounds ranging from spending less than 18 months in the party, not obtaining  waiver, insubordination to party authority/supremacy and inconsistency in age declaration.

According to the party, unsuccessful aspirants are at library to exercise their right to appeal in writing as stipulated by Article 10(1) of APGA electoral guidelines.

“The decision of the Screening Screening or Screening Appeal Committee Panel is liable to veto by the National Working Committee which is the final authority in terms of eligibility or otherwise of prospective aspirants to participate in the Anambra governorship primary of the party,” it stated.
