Anambra Guber: Nweke, Candidate Of AA Promises Government Of Inclusivity
Chief Japhet Ezechukwu Nweke, candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) for the Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra says he will run a government of inclusivity and bridge the gap between government and the citizens if elected into office.
Nweke who disclosed this in a parley with newsmen in Awka on Wednesday said though the incumbent was doing well in some areas, his government lacked empathy and inclusion.
He said AA as a party had a manifesto which was carefully designed to ensure that governance is structured to cater to the interests of the masses adding that they were a different strategy to the challenges of the state.
According to him, I am not saying that Soludo is not doing well, the old ways were not bad but there is nothing wrong in having multiple choices and that is what I represent.
“Anambra state governance of today requires revamping in such a way that it has to meet with the current global trends of the modern era and I have a well detailed and implementable plan,” he said.
Nweke, a political scientist said poverty induced by bad governance was responsible for the menace of vote buying in elections.
He said if elected, his administration would focus on agriculture to make the sector the mainstay of the economy and highest contributor to the state’s GDP.
He said some of the basic needs of the people included good roads, quality education and top notch infrastructure which would improve their lives and enrich those in leadership.
He dismissed zoning as an internal arrangement of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which was not binding on other political parties and not good for merit based leadership recruitment processes.
“The so-called zoning arrangement was only orchestrated by the APGA party and there was never a time my party the AA consented to that arrangement.
“This zoning arrangement enthrones mediocrity because the implication is that we are not going to have the best at a particular point in time if that best comes from a zone not favoured to be their turn.
“People are not reasoning today in Anambra based on the idea of zoning, they want to see who will give them what they want in terms of governance.
“AA believes that we have what it takes to give them that and they believe in us for that too, we do not believe in that zoning system.
“Agriculture and manufacturing provides only 20 percent of the total GDP, this is not supposed to be, we have to revamp our economy.
”It is our commitment that within the first three months of our being in office, insecurity would have been reduced to 80 percent and this will be done by tackling the root cause of insecurity whic
h is unemployment,” he said.
