Anambra Industrialist Threatens To Dump One Million Tree Planting Initiative Over Apathy
Chief Don Ebubeogu, an Anambra based industrialist has threatened to suspend his free one million tree planting initiative in the state indefinitely.
Ebubeogu, managing Director of Tiger Foods said he had started a five year strategic plan for environmental conservation which involved distribution and planting of economic and non economic trees over the period.
He expressed regrets that over 100,000 budded trees and live flowers he provided were ignored by the public in favour of synthetic flowers and grasses in their homes.
He said the trees would be sent back to the Northern Part of our country, where he said there was more dedication to fight against desertification.
According to the post on his Facebook page,, ‘it is with a heavy heart that I share the setback of our tree-planting campaign in Anambra.
In light of this, I feel compelled to make a difficult decision. I am suspending, indefinitely, my ambitious 5-year strategic plan to plant more than 1 million trees across Anambra State.
It’s a plan born from hope, passion, and the dream of a greener future for our children.
‘Instead, I will redirect the funds to our quarterly “Hangouts,” where we savour music, drinks, and the warmth of barbecued meat and fish.
‘I tried to ignite a spark for change. Unfortunately, the hands extended by people in reciprocity were not enough to plant more than 200,000 trees, which we had started with.
‘May the planet take care of itself,” he said.
