Anambra LG Service Commission Scribe Kicks Over Alleged Erroneous Suspension

Mr F.N. Anatogu, Secretary of Anambra State Civil Service Commission (ASCSC) has protested his suspension by the Commissioner of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs

.

The Ministry had suspended Anatogu indefinitely in a letter signed by the Commissioner and dated June 18.

The letter referred to a “Notice of Suspension”, dated June 17 and endorsed by the Members II, III and IV, of ASCSC.

“I am further directed to convey Mr Commissioner’s approval for your indefinite suspension with effect from June 18 pending the investigation of your case.

“The case bordered on alleged forgery and impersonation against Hon Azubuike Okoye, former member I of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission,” it said.

But Anatogu faulted the suspension arguing that the members who wrote the petition were no longer members of the board as their appointments were terminated in March 2026

The embattled Secretary in a formal response dated June 18 reminded the Commissioner that the officials who endorsed the suspension were among those dissolved by the state government through a directive dated March 18.

“May I humbly request your office to furnish me with the appointment letters of the new members that approved my suspension after the March 18 directive, for my guidance and compliance,” he said..

Anatogu said he was innocent of all the allegations against him and that he was prepared to defend himself anywhere.

“I trust that due process will prevail,” he said.

Sources within the Commission alleged that the dispute may be linked to internal disagreements over staff promotion exercises and administrative decisions taken after the dissolution of the board.
