Anambra Policewoman Intercepts Suspected Stolen Armoured Cable, Gets N.25m from CP Adeoye
A Policewoman, identified as Inspector Charity Oyor has received a cash reward of N250 million from CP Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Anambra State for exhibiting exceptional professionalism.
Oyor is serving in the Main Market Division, Onitsha was on traffic duty on Aug. 23rd, saw a shuttle bus laden with six heavy bundles of stripped armoured cable suspected to have been stolen and stopped the driver.
DSP Toochulwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command said asked the driver of the suspected cargo to explain the source of the item but he could not but instead offered her a bribe to allow him to pass.
Oyor refused to be induced but instead informed her DPO Superintendent Joy Chidinma Ikpeama who led some personnel to the scene and arrested the suspect.
“The cable was impounded and taken to the station for investigation.
“At the station the suspect again offered a sum of N500,000 but it was before the DPO briefed the Commissioner of Police on the arrest and recovery,” he said.
Ikenga said the CP thereafter ordered State CID Awka to take over the case for investigation with a view to unraveling where the used cables came from.
He said the monetaryw reward was to motivate Inspector Oyor for her uprightness. while urging all personnel in the command to always uphold ethics of the profession by refusing to be compromised in the discharge of their duties.
In her comment, Oyor promised to rededicate herself to the job she loves so much and thanked the CP for his generosity.
