Anambra Poll: Oba Ezeafia Mobilises Nri Community For Soludo’s Re-Election
High Chief Chukwudi Oli popularly known as ‘Oba Ezeafia Na Nri’ has commenced mobilisation of the people of Nri Kingdom in Anaocha Local Government Area towards comprehensive victory for Gov. Chukwuma Soludo in the Nov. 8 governorship election.
Oli, a philanthropist and illustrious son of Nri said the community would endorse Soludo in the coming days as a follow up to Prince Arthur Eze, the billionaire oil magnate who had already thrown his weight behind Soludo’s re-election.
Recall that Sen. Uche Ekwunife, the deputy governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC is from Nri community.
Some political observers told this reporter that the turnout of Nri people at tomorrow’s Soludo reception in the community is expected to serve as a litmus test of Oba Ezeafia’s electoral value in the ancient kingdom.
Chief Ogochukwu Egolum, an Nri High Chief and a close associate of Oli told journalists that huge assets were being deployed to mobilise Nri people and non-natives to give Soludo an organic endorsement.
According to Egolum, everyone knows that Oba Ezeafia is a great and respected philanthropist in the ancient Nri kingdom.
“He built roads, houses for widows, disbursed start-up funds to several youths and has been funding ‘Nri Onwa Agwu’ festival and many other such gestures for years without getting involved in politics.
“Oba Ezeafia has however decided to get involved in politics, he has realised that political platforms give one more opportunity to touch more lives and attract developments instead of relying on one’s personal income as he has been doing all these years,” he said.
Chief Egolum said Mr Chukwudi Oli was excited to hear that Soludo had awarded a contract for the construction of the popular Agbanabo road in Nri town.
He said the road had suffered neglect in the hands of previous governments in spite its strategic importance to socio-economic development of the area.
Egolum said heads of the various villages, women groups, youths, non-natives, age grades, cultural groups had adequately been mobilised by a committee to plan and organise the reception of the governor.
