Anambra Prepares To Receive First Lady Sept. 10
Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria will pay an official visit to Anambra.
The visit would be her first visit to the state since assuming her current capacity as First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The visit is expected to strengthen the existing robust partnership between the Federal Government and Anambra State in the areas of poverty reduction, economic empowerment, food security and improved livelihoods for vulnerable citizens.
No fewer than 5,000 people under the Progressives United Against Poverty Initiative, a partnership championed by the Anambra State Government in support of the president’s wife Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Support Scheme would be empowered.
The empowerment programme is designed to provide beneficiaries with practical economic support and opportunities to improve their livelihoods, with particular attention to people and households requiring assistance to become more economically productive.
The National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East Geopolitical Zone, which will also be inaugurated in Anambra State on the same day.
The programme is part of efforts under the Renewed Hope Initiative to strengthen food security and provide support to vulnerable households.
Sen. Tinubu would also visit the Federal Polytechnic, Oko to inaugurate key projects in the institution.
The First Lady’s visit is sequel to the progressive partnership between the Federal Government and Anambra State.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had during his visit to Anambra in 2025 described the relationship between the Federal Government and the state as one based on shared prosperity.
He also commended the Anambra’s fast-paced development efforts under Gov.Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
For Anambra, the visit will also mark a significant moment as the state welcomes the First Lady for the first time since she assumed office.
Residents in their numbers are expected to directly benefit from the empowerment programme and the wider interventions scheduled for the visit.
