Anambra South: Onunkwo’s Support Base Swells More Groups Join Structure
The campaign trail of Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, the candidate of National Democratic Party (NDC) for Anambra South Senatorial District has continued to gather momentum with many support groups and sociocultural organisations endorsing his candidature.
Onunkwo is the Managing Director of Seahorse Lubricant Ltd, philanthropist and politician with human face from Ihembosi, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Some of the groups largely from the Old Aguata political bloc stormed his Ihembosi country home where they openly declared their total support with chants of solidarity .
It was something close to a mini carnival at the house of Onunkwo as he played host to different political support groups that came to deliver their messages of goodwill and votes of confidence.
One of such groups is Dr Ebuka Onunkwo Support Group (EOSG) a grassroots based movement with presence across all the political wards in the seven local government areas within the district.
The group largely made up of former members All Progressives Grand Alliance expressed satisfaction that Onunkwo took the wise choice of joining NDC when it was obvious that his former party was not willing to give him a chance.
The said it would have been a huge loss to the Senatorial District if the great politician buried his political aspirantion on the alter of APGA’s conclave or consensus policy.
The group which were clad in colorful tshirts and matching caps pledged to work assiduously for the victory of Onunkwo in the January general election.
Another group of Patriots led by Chief O.C.G. also expressed their confidence that Onunkwo was the right man for the job.
Appreciating the supporters, Ebuka Onunkwo reaffirmed his his commitment to give the people of Anambra South an effective and proposeful representation of elected.
He charged them to work for NDC and ensure victory for Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the party and himself for a new Nigeria and better Anambra South Senatorial District.
He said he was aware of the development challenges of the area which included insecurity, unemployment and critical infrastructure and assured that he will influence legislation that would attract solutions to the problems.
He reminded them that as an private sector player, he was already addressing human capital and empowerment through scholarships and employment of numerous citizens of the area.
