APGA, YPP Deputy Chairman Dumps Parties For APC In Anambra
Some leaders of major political parties in Anambra have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra.
The detectors included Mr Linus Uhuo, Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the State alongside major stakeholders and some Local Government and Ward executive members in the area.
The APGA leader and members made the defection during an enlarged stakeholders meeting of APC held in the Iyiowa-Odekpe area of Ogbaru at the weekend.
The meeting was presided over by Sir E.C. Ejidike, the Acting chairman of the party Ogbaru Local Government Chairman of APC.
Mr Obiora Okwuosa, Chairman of Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Ogbaru Local Government and chairmen in the 16 wards of Area also joined APC.
Both the APGA Deputy Chairman and the YPP Chairman had said that their decision for joining APC was based on the light that Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu had brought to APC.
They vowed to work together with the leadership of APC in Ogbaru Local Government Area for the party to emerge victorious in the coming election.
Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, a chieftain of APC who received the decampees said Ogbaru people had embraced the ruling party at the federal level as the party of choice for the progressives.
Awogu who was joined by Mrs Calista Nwachukwu among other stakeholders said the doors of the party was wide open to receive new and quality members.
“Now I am in APC, you are in APC, APC has become our own and we have a duty to make APC work in Ogbaru Local Government Area and in Anambra State.
Awogu said Dr Nicholas Ukachukwu, the governorship candidate of the party was prepared and had the best implementable manifesto that would open up Ogbaru and Anambra to the world.
He said Ejidike, the Deputy Chairman of the party in the Local Government will be the Acting Chairman of the party until a substantive chairman.
Also speaking, Nwachukwu who is the treasurer of the party, commended the rejuvenated spirit in Ogbaru APC.
She said that the confidence of winning the Nov. 8 election was growing and called on all members to join hands with the party leadership in Ogbaru to make the party victorious.
On his part, Mr Nonso Nwebili commended the decampees for joining the party especially the YPP Chairman.
According to Nwebili, it is a common knowledge that YPP is not contesting any governorship election in Anambra State.
The enlarged Ogbaru APC stakeholders meeting also set up Ward by Ward Committees charged with the responsibility of fill up vacant positions in the various ward and Local Government executives of the party.
